It doesn’t have to be. You can add a new layer of fun and excitement to your next birthday party, block party, church picnic, or other special event by turning it into a costume party.

Costume Fun

If your child’s birthday is around Halloween, it’s a no-brainer that you can make their birthday include costume fun. But you also can invite your children’s guests to wear costumes at any time of the year, not just the end of October.

Children of every age love dressing up in costumes, whether it’s younger children dressing up as their favorite characters from TV, movies or books, or the creepy, scary costumes that older kids like to wear.

Dress Up Parties

Another costume option is to host a dress up party. This is ideal when the guests at your party are young girls who enjoy dressing up as pretty princesses, Disney characters, or other fun, glamorous costumes.

Invite your guests to bring their own costumes. Or drag out your costume box or a few old dresses, shoes and hats and let the children mix and match as they please. Children can spend hours playing dress up and pretending to be grown ups.

Fancy Tea Party

Another fun option is to invite your daughter’s friends to a fancy tea party at your house. Inform them that they can dress up as much as they want and are even allowed to bring their favorite teddy bear or other stuffed animal as their guests.

Then serve iced tea, soft drinks, or other appropriate beverages, along with tiny cakes, cookies, and other sweet treats that they will enjoy.

There’s no reason why costume fun has to be limited to Halloween!
